Empty Spaces in My Heart

Wu Jiahui - Empty Spaces - Wu Jiahui

I had just listened to this wonderful song by local male singer Wu Jiahui and found it to be very poignant. It reminded me of how I used to fantasize about finding true love and experiencing it. Those were the days when I was still hopeful about love. But now... it's a different story altogether.

Sick of my Family

I am so tired, man. How I wish I can leave my family right now. My parents have no thoughts for me. All they care is about themselves and that stupid TOTO and 4-D. How I wish I can bomb Singapore Pools right now so that my mum would stop all those gambling and start caring about me.

It's so tiring trying to talk to her when all she's interested in are those stupid numbers. Each time I try to start a conversation with her, she would be busy drawing dots on those betting slips and ignore me.

Yet she would go on and on about nagging me for the usage of the electricity in the house. Everytime I start to use my computer, she would nag on and on about how expensive electricity is and how I should stop playing. Heck, I gave her money to pay the bills and she still complains.

Just now all I wanted to do was to watch TV and she complained about wasting electricity again. Damn her. Before I wanted to watch TV, she was already using it to see the 4-D results. All my expensive, dear Samsung LCD TV is good for is for her to see the TOTO and 4-D results. Boy, I really hate it.

Playing my computer and watching TV are the only things I can do in this cold household to while away the time.

Does winning those numbers mean more to her than me? She is wasting so much money by giving all those money to Singapore Pools. I rather not give her money if that's the way she wants to spend it. Gambling is such a horrible habit and she still can't kick it off.

When she finally dies, I will burn her all the TOTO and 4-D slips instead of hell money. She doesn't need anything else except for those papers. I hope she will win the grand draw in hell.

Pui!

Dell Explosion

Yep, you read it right. A Dell laptop had exploded while in use, though this is really an old, old piece of news. I was just checking through the Internet on some Dell laptop pictures when I came across this interesting picture via this blog:

Very interesting picture. Kudos to the guy who snapped this. Hmmm... I shall put this into account when I am going to consider Dell computers. Though this really old news, way back in 2006, it still worth remembering the dangers of using laptops. Heehee, not that it will deter me from going ahead and purchase one though. You bet it will not be Dell after all. *hiak hiak*

Now for Dell's Mini Laptop

This time round, Dell is releasing its own mini laptop into the world of UMPC. It's really amazing how fast competitors react the moment Asus released its EEE PC 701 last year. According to Gizmodo, he caught sight of a very small laptop that Dell's boss, Michael Dell, showed him after an interview.

So far, no further details has been released by Dell yet but we do manage to get some pictures of the small laptop.

So far, everything has been looking good for the UMPC world. Let's hope that pricing will be better after that disastrous Asus EEE PC 900. Hmmm, I do hope that Dell's laptops are good coz I heard that they are not quite reliable. It's gonna be a wait and see approach for me. =)

Acer's own mini laptop?

The ultra-mobile pc world has just gotten another newcomer, according to this post here. Acer's new baby has been spotted online with some new pictures to share with the world.

No other facts were given so I guess all we can do now is to be patient and wait. But it sure makes me re-think about my final choice of laptop that I'm going to buy eventually. Looks like the EEE PC is already a thing of the past. Poor Asus. =P

PS. Pictures all not mine.

Clay for Real?

According to this report, Clay Aiken is going to be a daddy with his best friend, whom the report identifies as Jaymes Foster. I have no idea how true this report is as news coming from Hollywood tends to be very exaggerated.

In fact, I had just read about Clay in yesterday's copy of TODAY and he's quite tired of having those gay questions directed at him. For the record, I think he looks pretty normal, gay or otherwise.

C'mon, give the guy a break and let him make nice music. I think that's all he wants from the world. Gay? Going to be a daddy?

Give it a rest. ^.^

Another EEE Coming

Another Asus eee pc is reportedly announcing its debut on Tuesday, according to Cnet.UK.

This new baby features a 10-inch screen size, the biggest in the eee pc family. Rumours are saying that it will also probably features the new Intel Atom chips for the processors. So far there has been no other news besides this. I wonder whether it will be a suitable competitor to the MSI Wind.

Let's wait and see how things go. =)

Wind in the Air

I had just gotten a very delicious bit of news.

MSI Wind is about to get its debut next month and the very first preview has been posted up at CNET.UK. There's a video post to go with the review as well and the MSI Wind looks so desiring upfront. There's also a photo post that shows off the MSI Wind in many shots.

It looks so yummy I can't help drooling over it. Here's are some pictures for a good old drooling session:

I prefer the white version as it looks more sleek, just like an Apple MacBook. Too bad it doesn't come in black colour. I would snap it up in a moment. This mini laptop is going for around 329 pounds with the Windows XP version. So it will cost close to S$1,000 but given that its specifications are rumoured to be very solid, I shall wait and see if its worth the buck.

I'm waiting.... if it's really that good I will buy it. =D

Filthy Rich Hollywood Stars Waste Money on New House

According to That Other Blog, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are apparently spending a cool $60 million on a French residence which is supposed to come with 35 rooms, a vineyard, moat, lake and forest, and even ponies on demand.

That's extravagance in super luxurious Hollywood. And stupid as well. The maintenance and upkeep of the estate is going to be costly too. Looks like these Hollywood celebrities are spending their money the way Singaporeans are littering the streets. A big WASTE.

Everything in Hollywood makes no sense at all. Those $60 million (US$ or not, it's still a lot of money!) could very well be put to good use by donating to the twin Asian disasters, the Sichuan Earthquake and the Myanmar Cyclone. So many people in need of help. Such a wasteful way of using money.

All for the cause of additional 2 Brangelina kiddos. *smacks forehead*

Mystery Murder?

This news report from Reuters' Oddly Enough is certainly an intriguing one.

Severed body parts, specifically that of the foot, had been found awashed the coastline of Canada's Pacific coast, mystifying the local police there.

Apparently, they have already done some DNA tests in order to match victims but so far results have been inconclusive. This is certainly interesting as normally a murderer would also chop up the other body parts and set them in various locations.

Yet so far a 4th foot had been found with no further body parts being sighted anywhere else. Does this mean that the crime perpetrator had only chopped off the feet but still leaving the victims alive? Or perhaps it is simply just a tactic of the perpetrator to confuse the local police and the residents living there. The feet might be a clue to a more gruesome truth which none of us might want to find out.

This case is very interesting indeed. Let's wait and see if there's any further new finds from the local police.

Who knows, it might turn out to be as sensational as those crime plots of Agatha Christie's Poirot and Miss Maple stories, who are my favourite characters as well as my favourite crime author. =D

Only time will tell.

Upcoming Harry Potter Star Dead

Robert Knox (right) with his mother Sally and younger brother Jamie.
Photo from Telegraph Media Group Limited

Whoa! I had just gotten news from this post that a new Harry Potter star has died in a brutal attack.

Robert Knox is playing the role of a Ravenclaw student, Marcus Belby (I wonder if there's such a character, gotta hit the books again) in the upcoming film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Seemed like he died while trying to protect his brother from a knife attack. Such a heroic boy yet he had to meet with such a tragic end. I hope the attackers are duly caught and brought to justice.

When the film opens in Singapore, I will look out for any scenes that contain Robert. It was such a wonderful opportunity for him to snag a role in the Harry Potter movie franchise but now it's all gone.

This kind of senseless killing should be stopped at all costs in order to prevent the loss of innocent lives. Young people are especially vulnerable to such attacks since these attacks often happened in area which are mostly frequented by young people.

To the family of Robert Knox, my sincere condolences to you.

To Robert Knox, rest in peace. You will forever be remembered in all Harry Potter fans' hearts.

New PSP Slim Case

I had just came back from a BBQ session at Angeline a.k.a. mayi's house, exhausted but feeling very satisfied. Besides me, Felice a.k.a. maomao also came for the BBQ session. Xinhui a.k.a. xin didn't turn up eventually due to some personal matters.

Nonetheless, the 3 of us enjoyed ourselves despite the unpleasantries from mayi's elder sister. Between the 3 of us, we managed to set up 2 BBQ pits and got some food cooking sizzling hot before the elder sister came over and took away all our cooked food to share with her own set of friends. This left us with only raw food in which we had to cook again before we could fill our stomachs.

Magdeline is such a horrible person that mayi had the misfortune to live with all her life. She is such a huge disgrace to the family. All of us were busy preparing the necessaries for the BBQ, like setting up the BBQ pits, cooking the food and the eventual cleaning up of the BBQ equipments but all her elder sister did was snatched our food away without a word of thanks.

Her friends were even worse than the sister. They just came over to the BBQ session and ate up the food without offering a single helping hand to us nor a word of thanks. They should be ashamed of themselves and rightfully so, since they are working as full-time teachers in public schools.

Is this the way for public teachers to carry themselves in front of other people? NIE should sieve out all these bad apples lest they teach the wrong values to the future generations. Bah!

Right. Enough about those ungrateful sods.

Aside from the excellent food, I had also managed to get a beautiful PSP Slim case for myself at Bishan Junction 8. Needless to say, it is in black colour.

Here are some pictures of the case which I took with my Sony Ericsson K800i mobile phone:

Now my beloved PSP Slim is finally getting the proper home that it deserves. With this case, I don't have to worry about scratches marring the beauty of my black PSP Slim anymore. What a relief!

My Desired PSP Slim Colour

How I wish I can modify my current Piano Black Sony PSP Slim to this awesome combination colour skin.

I simply adore this colour combination to bits. However I have no idea how to go about changing the colour. Qisahn.com doesn't seem to offer such services as well. So now I am stuck on getting my desired PSP Slim colour.

Besides, don't you agree that the colours are so striking that makes the PSP Slim that much more drool-worthy? Oh well, looks like my search is not gonna end anytime soon.

*sighs*

Let's have some celery!

This morning I had asked my mum to cook celery for dinner tonight but as she doesn't understand English, it was difficult to get the request across to her. My command of chinese language has been appalling so I couldn't remember the chinese name for celery.

So as you guessed it, I ended up with no celery as part of my dinner. I don't know why but I had this sudden craving for celery ever since I last ate it at my previous company's dinner and dance event.

This vegetable is super crunchy and hence is extremely a joy to chew on! =D Look at the picture that I attached below:

It sure looks yummy. Celery can also be eaten as a raw food but I prefer it to be cooked. Well, I don't really know how to cook so I had to ask my mum to cook for me. But alas! Miscommunication caused me to miss out celery tonight. Sadz sia....

Ya, ya.... I heard you guys out there. I should start to learn cooking for myself but I keep procrastinating. So erm.... hehehehehe!

Have a nice weekend! =D

Buses are useless!

Today I had such a bad experience with SBS Transit feeder service number 228. Usually buses take around 15 minutes to arrive during peak hours but this evening it took more than half an hour before a bus finally drove into the pick-up point.

I have been tolerating this shoddy service for a long time and I suspect many Singaporeans are also feeling the same way as me. Yet most of them just don't report the matter to SBS nor the LTA. Hence I penned, or rather typed, 2 emails. One to SBS and the other went to LTA. I was so upset at seeing other commuters being able to get their buses arrive on time that my temper simply boils whenever I think about it.

*sighs*

I think it's only a matter of time before I go crazy from all those lengthy bus waits. Why can't SBS treat the commuters better? It is very disheartening to see service number 225 come around 4 or 5 times just to fetch commuters to Bedok North. Then there's service no. 17 which came 3 times. Still no sight of that elusive service 228. Hmmm...

So I shall now post what I had written to both SBS and LTA. Hmmm...

Here's the email which I sent to SBS:

--
I had to wait 35 minutes for feeder bus service 228 in order to get home. This is becoming a trademark for SBS Transit buses. What makes matters worse is that I observed how other bus services like 225 had arrived frequently for the commuters to Bedok North area, or that bus service 17 had arrived 3 times to pick up commuters, or that bus service 229 had arrived at least twice to pick up commuters. So does that mean that commuters heading towards Bedok Reservoir area don't matter to SBS Transit at all? Must we waste 35 minutes EVERY single time that we wait for the FEEDER bus? It makes no sense at all, wasting commuters' precious time. Are we being treated as outcast just because we are living in the Bedok Reservoir area? It is always frustrating to wait for SBS buses no matter what the circumstances are. I have given hope on SBS. Yet because of the monopoly hold over most parts of the eastern public transport, I have no other choices other than SBS to get me to my destination. Stop mistreating the residents of Bedok Reservoir area. Please wake up to our pleas!
--

And here's the letter to LTA:

--
Dear Sir/Madam,

On 22.05.08 at 7.25pm, I waited for SBS Transit feeder bus service 228 at Bedok bus interchange to go home. However, the bus, license no. SBS 0070 Z, only came at 7.57pm.

Is this supposed to be within the waiting time limit of 15 minutes? With the movement for bus operators to improve the waiting time during peak hours to 10 minutes, it seems like the bus operator is unable to keep up with the new proposed waiting time intervals. Furthermore, it is a feeder service bus and therefore should have a shorter bus route than the usual trunk service. Hence, the bus should be able to arrive on time. Yet several commuters had to wait for more than half an hour in order for the bus to arrive at the pick-up point.

Is this going the way of future advancement for Singapore's bus transportation? If that's the case, it makes much more sense to own a car than to take public transport as time is of the utmost importance to working individuals. Commuters should not be made the victim for the failure of compliance by the bus operators.

With all the increase in bus fares, the least we expect from the bus operators is to ensure that the buses arrive at a reasonable time. However a 35 minutes waiting time for a feeder bus service is simply too much, not to mention that it happened during peak hours for dinnertime. In any case, let's hope that our bus transportation will improve, otherwise I will have to invest in a car.

How will the government ensure that commuters' interests will be protected against errant bus operators? On top of that, the buses are always packed full to the brim, with hardly any standing space left. Is the 95% full bus load a mandatory condition for the bus operators to comply? Commuters are often at a loss when they encounter such incidents. Either they board the bus and squeeze like sardines or else they will have to wait for the next bus, which means they will be late for their appointments. Again this would bring the issue of bus frequency back into the picture. It is a very delicate situation which every citizen hopes that it will be settled once and for all.

Thank you for your time to attend to this feedback. Have a nice day.

So, how's my letter writing. Need improvement right. kekeke....

Some interesting facts!

I had received a very interesting email from one of my friends describing the prediction of the Sichuan Earthquake.

Here's the full context of the email although it's all in Chinese:

Basically , it described about how the famous Chinese poet Li Bai had composed a poem in which the events of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games as well as the recent Sichuan Earthquake were predictions that came from the poem.

Then there were the dates of disaster events that added up to 08 August 2008. Plus the numerical 8 keeps popping up everywhere in relation to the Sichuan disaster that were simply too fascinating.

I wonder who actually had the time to come up with this listing. That person simply has too much free time on his/her hands, man. Hahaha!!!

Do you believe in the deductions made above? Hmmm....

Touching Sichuan Earthquake Victim

I had found this poignant video on the popular video-sharing site, Youtube.

It shows how a man had fought to live till the very end in order to see his family once last time but when the rescuers finally got him out, he passed away quietly.

The moment when the rescuers got him out and noticed that he wasn't making any sounds, my eyes started to tear. As they called out to him repeatedly in an attempt to wake him up, it was becoming apparent that he had passed away peacefully.

It was a struggle watching the video as it was too painful. The anguish of the China people is simply unimaginable. I can only watch as a bystander as the China people deal with the aftermath of the Sichuan Earthquake tragedy. The sheer magnitude of the damage was too huge. They reported that it was the worst earthquake in 30 years, after that terrible Tangshan earthquake. I knew very little about Tangshan earthquake as I was not born yet. Now as I see slowly, one by one, the China people pick up the broken pieces of their lives.

No more homes. Hundred thousands of children were dead. No longer a county seat exists. Everything has been flattened into a useless land. The earthquake was an unforgiving one, choosing to strike at a time where many people were so vulnerable. The children were especially vulnerable as they suffered the most number of casualties.

May heaven look after these China people. We care for them and will stand behind them.

Let's pray for them. For everything.

PS. Rest in peace, Chen Jian. You will live on in our minds.

Change

So, I changed my blog's title from shadow de tempest to wuthering shadows. The word "wuthering" comes from Emily Bronte's only famous novel, Wuthering Heights.

I have the book in my possession for quite some time but to date, I have yet to start reading on it. I have been distracted by so many happenings in my life that I forgot all about the book. Still, from what I understand from wikipedia, the story itself is very tragic yet touching at the same time.

I shall only know the truth of that when I finally get started on reading the book.

Now I am thinking whether I should change my blog's url from shadow-tempest to wuthering-shadows. I am a very fickle-minded person and I only want the best for myself so that explains why I make so many changes.

Prior to this blog, I have another blog hosted at LJ and the only bad thing about LJ is that you can't make changes to the blog's template the way Blogger allows you. No javascript is allowed and free accounts are not even allowed to change the html in their blog templates.

Anyway I just want to set up a different blog to write about different things. My mind likes to wander and this blog is gonna be an experiment of sorts.

All right then. We shall see how things go along. I take one step at a time. Slowly. So do expect lots of changes here and there.

Ciaoz...

An Agonizing Birth

It is a long, painstakingly project to get this blog up and running.

First, I agonize over the naming of this blog, which I admit that I am still not fully satisfied with it. The sound of the words does not flow very well. Hmmm.... Oh well. I have to make do with it for now.

I am still trying to get the look of my blog right but since I am absolutely crap at html, I am having a tough time getting the skin of my blog to look right.

So... ya. There you go.

My first post is born amid some difficulties.
