Thus, Lau really did betrayed Ciel not for any personal gains, but to prove that he is more powerful than merely being a pawn in Ciel's game. Too bad that Ciel managed to outwit him in the end.
As for Sebastian, it's very intriguing when he indeed rejected the offer from Angela to give up Ciel's soul in exchange for many other souls. He stated that he only wanted Ciel's soul and no one else.
I wonder what's so special about Ciel and his soul that attracts both demon and angels. Well, at least for the angels, they are interested in erasing his past, as shown in episode 18. Plus in the manga, some slave traders from Ciel's past had mentioned that the price of Ciel is worth that of 2 people. So Ciel is indeed special in some way that has yet to be revealed.
As for Aberlin, he sacrificed his life for Ciel but he unwittingly became a pawn for Sebastian to use for protection for Ciel against Lau. That Sebastian admitted to it himself made Ciel angry and hence the slap.
I wonder how the anime story arc will go after this episode since it's already deviated from the original manga. So don't forget to tune in to Kuroshitsuji next week.
