I know I'm a late bloomer when it comes to English music. Recently one of my dear friends has recommended me to listen to My Chemical Romance and even gave me one album to listen to. That album is Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and I totally love it!
The songs are meaningful and the tunes are catchy too. One of my favourite songs has to be "Helena". I can't get the music out of my head for the past few days now. Haha... You can go to this link to see MCR's lyrics for their songs. I love all the songs in this album and now I am looking for the rest of their music. If only I had discovered them sooner! Oh well, at least it's better than nothing at all.

Ayumi's New Album: NEXT LEVEL
Tada! I finally got my hands on Ayumi Hamasaki's latest album release, NEXT LEVEL. I am actually quite late in buying this album because I totally forgotten about it. It was only until my colleague had asked me whether I enjoyed listening to the latest album, then it dawned on me that I forgot cleanly about the buying.
So I went down to Plaza Singapura yesterday and promptly bought the album from Sembawang CD shop. It was quite expensive, being pegged at S$27.50 but since it's a 2CD+DVD packaging, I didn't mind it that much. After all Ayumi's albums are always very impressive.
This new album is so pretty that it makes me feel as though I'm carrying a candy around with me. See the CD cover below:
In fact, I had just realised that I have been supporting Ayumi's works for a decade, well almost a decade anyway. That's a long time, isn't it? Right from her early days when I first heard of her in the song, SEASONS. That song was first released in the album, Duty, way back in 2000. However I only started buying her albums when she released a compilation, A BEST, in 2001. That was my very first Ayumi CD and I was immediately drawn to her wonderful and strong vocals and moving music.
In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that she wrote all the lyrics in her songs and even arranged some of her own songs too. Sometimes she would credit herself as 'crea' but sometimes she would also use her own name.
However, I am honest enough to admit that I don't own ALL her albums at all. By this, I mean all her singles, all her remixes albums, all her compilation albums as well as her regular studio albums. That would break my bank, not to mention that I would be buying the same songs over and over. I'm not such a fanatic fan after all. But I do own almost all of her studio albums and compilation albums.
Nonetheless, I still get to enjoy her songs and she's really the best in Japan. Too bad I don't have the opportunity to attend her concerts. That has been one of my longest dreams but sadly enough, Singapore can't afford to host her concert here due to economical reasons. Well, that is to be expected, since she's the top earner in Japan's entertainment world.
Too bad I don't get to share the same birthday as her. She is born on 2 October while I'm born on 3 October. Argh.... Just 1 day difference. Well, at least we share the same horoscope, Libra. Wee!
All right, I'm off to listen to her new album and wander into Ayu-land!!!

Japanese Pop Star Drunk in Park
Whoa, a member of the hugely popular Japanese boyband, SMAP, has been arrested for being drunk and naked in a park near the Roppongi district.
Neighbours called in the police after they discovered Tsuyoshi Kusanagi was being rowdy and he was taken into custody soon after.
When I googled his name to see how he look like, I was very surprised to see that it was this guy below:

He acted in several popular Japanese TV dramas when I was in secondary school and I enjoyed watching him in those shows. He projected such a squeaky clean image that it was hard to reconcile with the scandal that has tarnished his image beyond repair.
Reports stated that several commercials starring him were dropped and brands like Toyota also dropped him as their ambassador.
Now the public are waiting to see if he would be charged with public indecency despite that he's a big star in Japan. Big star or not, that kind of behaviour is simply not acceptable in Japan. If it happens in the West, then he would probably be let off with a warning but he wasn't.
Stars these days are in the news for all the wrong reasons and no wonder they get so much flak. Anyway I rarely watch TV shows these days. Animes are my obsession and so do mangas. These mediums carry no real human images, only drawings so I guess I'm pretty weird.
=D

Jay Chou's Latest Album: Capricorn
Finally this day has arrived and I can get my hands on Jay's latest album, Capricorn!
I did a preorder at Tampines Mall's Music Junction and the album was supposed to be released on 9th Oct 2008. But due to a link of the album's songs on the internet, Jay decided to postponed the release date and to add on 1 more free gift to preorders.
The initial free gift was a Jay's rubik cube. Now the add-on will be a Jay's poker cards. Not that I'm planning to use either of them. They are meant for keepsakes. So I collected my items and took a snapshots of them. See below:

As for the songs, no doubt they are still Jay's signature songs with his distinct music style. As per tradition, you will need to listen to the songs a couple of times before they would grow on you. Most of the songs are my favourites except for the 3rd song, Snake Dance. I suspect Lara of Nan Quan Mama lends her vocals to this song and thus, making me hate this song. I have never like Lara's voice for it sounds very scratchy and irritating. There is absolute no good value about her voice. Bah!
The opening bars of the 1st song, Dragon Warrior Knight, has now become my newest ringtone on my Nokia N95 8GB. Heehee...
Now I shall devote my time to listening & learning the lyrics to Jay's new songs for it will be another year before the next release of his future album.
