Manga Read: Penguin Prince

I have just finished reading a truly heartwarming manga titled Penguin Prince. It contains one-shots of school love stories that are very cute and heartening to read.

The title story is about a super popular and cool boy, called by the female students in the school as the prince, who actually owns a cute toy penguin. Without this penguin he will lose his cool and calm. And so this little secret of his was discovered by a girl whom the whole school students had nicknamed as the witch because of her fierce looks.

In fact she is a very kind girl who is being misunderstood and bullied by the prince's fangirls. He saw the kind side of hers and they hang out together all the time. Thus the fangirls became very jealous of the witch and schemed to put her into trouble. However this only serves to strengthen their bond into something deeper, love. Awww....

The second story is about a girl who has a crush on her fellow student and both of them were picked to represent their classical literature class in a competition. However their class is known for having the lousiest grades ever and so no one else expect them to win. But the girl is actually a top student in classical literature and the class was hoping that she will lead them to victory. And so begins a comical and sweet love story between the two students.

The third story is about a girl being forced to attend a tea ceremony class for three months in order to cultivate her into a ladylike woman. Yet her instructor is none other than the resident bad boy in her school and seeing him wearing the Japanese traditional clothes has her changing her mind.

However he is very strict in his teachings and would hit her if she makes mistakes. The girl ended up being very pissed off and was about to quit when the boy challenged her. This makes her motivated enough to try to learn and master the tea ceremony. Of course, she falls in love with the boy in the process.

However the three months class is coming to an end and she confessed to him. The boy didn't reply and she thought she was rejected. Things worsen when she learned that he had went to America after that, without seeing her again. The girl thought things had truly ended up when the boy came back to her. Apparently he went to America on a holiday trip, not immigrated to a foreign country.

This cute story has a second chapter where the boy's first crush comes back to witness his tea-making skills. If she judged that he is good in his skills, she will agree to go out with him. This makes our heroine very sad and she decided to give her blessings to the boy and his crush. However the boy forced her to go to his house and witness the tea ceremony together with his crush. In the end, the boy chose her over his former crush as he has already fallen deeply with her. It is such a sweet story that makes me cry and cheer for the girl.

The final story is about a girl who saw a boy throwing his music scores in a bin in a park. She was taken aback when he rushed off, causing her to lose an earring in the process. She thought of returning all the music scores back to the boy after picking them up in the park but was rudely rejected by the boy instead.

The boy went to apologize to her for his actions and he confided in her about his difficulties in playing the piano. The girl managed to cheer the boy and motivate him to do his best in finding the perfect play for himself as he has this ability to find things quickly and accurately. However this boy was going to transfer out of the school and the girl could no longer see him again. Until one day, she received a ticket to a concert from an unknown sender.

When she attended the concert, it was the boy who played in one of the pieces and she knew immediately that he had found himself in his musical direction and realised that she had fallen in love with him. The story ended with the two meeting up again in the same park where they met each other for the first time.

This manga is definitely worth reading and is so light-hearted yet heartwarming at the same time. It touches my heart and makes it cry for more. Too bad there's only one volume of this excellent manga.

Manga Read: Midnight Secretary

I have completed reading a new manga series, Midnight Secretary, and I absolutely love it! I got my copy from Aerandria Scans and boy, I'm so glad that I found this lovely manga.

The manga follows the story of a private secretary, Kaya, and her super handsome boss, Kyouhei. Kaya was introduced as a potential secretarial candidate for Kyouhei by his brother, Masaki. However Kyouhei rejected Kaya mainly because she don't look like a beauty to him and he only has interest in beautiful ladies.

This pisses Kaya and so with her persuasive powers, she managed to get Kyouhei to agree to let her work on a trial run to determine her abilities at work. However, what Kaya did not count on was the hidden secret of her boss. He is a vampire and he takes his 'meals' by seducing beuatiful women. That explains why so many beautiful women are seen going in and out of his office all the time.

And so this begins Kaya's strange journey into the supernatural world of vampires and her subsequent romance with Kyouhei. Kyouhei was very reluctant to get involved with her as she is a human. Humans caused him to get alienated from the vampire branch and hence he was forced to survive on his own. Thus Kaya had a tough time when she realised she had fallen in love with her seemingly cold boss.

Well eventually love wins over everything and the two of them live happily ever after. What I love about this series is the incredible artwork and the story plot. The artwork is so gorgeous and Kyouhei is the most handsome boss that I have ever seen. If only I have a boss like that... aww... You know what I mean when you see the pictures below.

Look at those smoking eyes of Kyouhei. Aren't they seductive? Heehee... As for Kaya, she has super big eyes that reminds me of Ayumi Hamasaki. Both of them possess huge eyes that I wish I could have too. =(

The plot is also good with intriguing hues of supernatural themes as well as a generous dose of humour. I love this sensei's sense of humour. It's so adorable =D

I have to check out more of this mangaka's works as the artwork is simply too beautiful and I'm a sucker for beautiful things. So there you go. One more series completed. Phew....

Manga Read: Skip Beat! Chapter 143

New chapter 143 for Skip Beat! has finally been posted up for reading. You can find it here.

I'm sure you are as excited as me on how the story is progressing now. Well, poor Ren. It's still not at the stage where he can finally receive his birthday present from Kyoko.

For Kyoko, the beagle guy continues to harass her and refuses to give up on getting her to give him chocolates on Valentine's day. So Kyoko has no choice but to make them for him, with all her hatred of course. *grins*

Meanwhile Shou popped when Kyoko was giving the chocolates to the beagle guy. He was so angry that she actually cared to make chocolates for his enemy that he had declared his intentions right there. Though it wasn't clear cut, but he has definitely fallen for Kyoko for real now.

Shou can't escape from Kyoko's grasp and that's not because her revenge against him has succeeded. She is still a long way from there but with the Natsu role, she is slowly cementing her status as a credible actress and a worthy kouhai to Ren.

For me, I hope that she will end up with Ren. However she is still pretty thick-headed and don't realise that Ren has feelings for her. So far Ren's manager is the only one who knows about Ren's love for Kyoko. Looks like Ren still has a long way to go before he can win his lady's heart.

Plus with Shou and the beagle guy, it's going to be a difficult task but since he's such a nice guy, I'm sure he will get his heroine eventually.

Oh man, now it's another wait to the next chapter! I hope it will come soon. Perhaps by this week. =P

Manga Read: Skip Beat! Chapter 141

Yay!

Chapter 141 has finally arrived! The story is getting more interesting as it slowly progresses along. Mind you, it's really a long and slow process. After all the mangaka did said that this is going to be a very long, long project.

Hmmm probably it might turn out to be as long as Inuyasha, another one of my favourite mangas. *grin*

Right. You can get the new chapter here. You might have to register in order to get it, I'm not sure. Nonetheless, it's definitely worth joining Franky House. They have so many awesome releases! They are truly a god-send to us manga fans. =D

Ok, onward to the new chapter! See ya!

Manga Read: Skip Beat! Chapter 140

Wow! Finally chapter 140 for Skip Beat! is now up for reading. You can go to this website to download the scans to read.

Oh boy! I can't wait to see what Kyoko had bought for Ren! The suspense is killing me man. I like the way the mangaka is going in the story's direction. If only we can get more regular updates from her, then we wouldn't have to wait in suspense for so long.

Right. I am going off to read thew new chapter! See ya!

Anime Watch: Kuroshitsuij Episode 24 Subbed Version Up

Finally the subbed version for Kuroshitsuji episode 24 is out for viewing. Here it is:

Watch Kuroshitsuji-24 FINAL!!! [Sub Eng] in Anime | View More Free Videos Online at Veoh.com

I am so sad that this anime has ended. It's one of the animes that I look forward to every week. However the ending leaves much to be desired. There are so many loopholes in this episode that I suspect the anime company might be aiming for a second season. If that's the case, I'm all for it.

I can never get enough of Kuroshitsuji and thankfully, the manga is still ongoing. According to the mangaka, her ending will definitely be different from the anime's ending. Well, I certainly hope so. Plus there is no angel arc in the manga version and that's a relief.

Imagine having a she-male for an angel, which is supposed to be a symbol of god. Plus this she-male has the hots for the demon butler, Sebastian. Poor Sebastian got his left arm cut off by the angel in this episode and the arm doesn't seem to grow back.

I wonder what's Sebastian's true form looks like, be it manga or anime. Both did not show Sebastian in his full form. Even Ciel in the anime version is not allowed to look at Sebastian's real form. Is it really that terrifying?

One thing for sure, Sebastian wears black heels in his real form. This is shown in both the manga as well as the anime.

Somehow I feel that the ending is somewhat hastily done and with the blackout scene, I don't know whether Ciel's soul is truly taken by Sebastian or not. Plus I want to know what will happen to Ciel's servants? Did they perish together with Pluto?

So many questions left answered. I hope a second season will come soon. If not, then a remake better be in the works. But the reality is that animes always differ from the manga source. So this might truly be the real end for the anime series.

:(

The plot gets even more twisted when the demon dog engulfed the whole of London in a great fire. With the angel as its master, purification process is carried out in the whole city. As Ciel made his way back to London from Paris via a ship, he encountered the Undertaker, who offered Ciel some food in the form of bone crackers.

Poor Ciel was made to go hungry and stow away on board a ship in order to get back to London. The Undertaker apparently wanted Ciel to know that he is dying soon. That could mean that the end for his revenge and hatred is coming soon.

Upon reaching London, he soon met up with Maylene who then brought him to Bard and Finny. Pluto, the demon dog, was shown to be blazing fire at the whole city, which shocked Ciel. Nearby atop a building, both the angel and Sebastian were watching the spectacle below, waiting to see what Ciel would do next. To Sebastian's surprise, Ciel ordered his 3 servants to kill Pluto even though all of them had grown attached to him.

Nonetheless they carried out their orders and Ciel hurried his way to the Queen, where he found her died upon arriving at her room. Her guards mistook Ciel for the killer and shot him. Ciel thought this is the end. Well, I also thought this is the end but Ciel's spilled blood actually activates the contract with Sebastian. Thus Sebastian appeared to save Ciel from the remaining shots and fired them back at the guards.

Looks like Sebastian is preparing Ciel's soul for something that has yet to be revealed. The episode ended with Sebastian carrying Ciel towards the angel's location, where a final showdown is expected.

By the way, the angel really planned to become one with Sebastian and together they can rule the world. It's a good thing Sebastian turned down the thing. I wouldn't fancy wanting to be with someone who couldn't make up their mind about their gender. A man with woman's boobs in the form of an angel? Oh pur-leease.

The next episode is gonna be the one that could make or break the anime series. If done properly, this anime series is going down as one of the best in 2008. Hopefully there would be a time where season 2 will come along. However that time wouldn't be that soon.

Anime Watch: Toradora Episode 24 is Out [Subbed]

The latest update to Toradora! episode 24 is out and is viewable here :

Frankly speaking, I both like and dislike this episode. I like it as Ryuji finally admits that he is in love with Taiga and even confessed to her. Similarly, Taiga also confessed her feelings to him and so, this starts their journey of living life together.

Yet, the option that they chose to live their lives together was to run away from their families. This is the part that I can't accept. They are so young, what right do they have to run away? Even Minori, Ami and Kitamura chipped in to help them escape. What the...?

I think it's foolish of them not wanting to further their studies at college and instead choose to run away to solve their problems. To me, it's more like an act of cowardice than bravery. In fact, Ryuji also hurt his mother's feelings by accusing her of pushing all her past faults onto him. It was the first time we saw Yasuko cried because of Ryuji.

In the end, Yasuko left Ryuji before he could and left behind some artifacts that would help Ryuji to get back to his grandparents' side. The episode ended with both Ryuji and Taiga arriving at Ryuji's grandparents' house and introducing themselves to them.

The next episode is the last one and I wonder how the anime studio would end Toradora. Hopefully it would be tastefully done as the series has been doing quite well so far. A slipshod work would render the whole series useless.

Time flies so fast and I just realised I have spent 6 months with Toradora on okto. Wow. That's like a long time ago. Gosh, all things will come to an end and this case is no exception. I shall look forward to the next episode. They better do justice to Ryuji and Taiga. Underaged runaway couple is not my cup of tea. Grrr...

In this episode, we see how Ciel gets himself back to London via a ship and that he has certainly become stronger in the absence of Sebastian. The previous episode saw a powerless Ciel, unable to do anything right. Here it's all different. He managed to get the ship cruised back to London when the captain had initially wanted to steer away. Well, at least that's what I'm guessing here since no subs are available as yet.

The whole of London is under great fire, which is caused by Pluto as he's a fire-blasting demon dog as well as a servant for the angel, Ash/Angela. I was disgusted to see that both Ash and Angela are actually the one and same person. Imagine a guy with boobs. Eww... and that angel even bared his/her chest to Sebastian in one scene. Yucks!

Also, we get to see why an earlier filler episode on the past lives of the Phantomhive servants comes into the picture. Under Ciel's order, they readied themselves to kill Pluto with all their might. However they did so with great reluctance and shed tears before they pulled the trigger.

However I was shocked to see Ciel getting shot by the Queen's bodyguards. By the way, the Queen is really disgusting in here as she's obsessed with being together with her dead husband. His body is even sewn together with her head so that they could be together as per her wishes, but that's so sick. Ewww....

When Ciel got to the Queen's side, she was already dead as the angel had abandoned her or something like that. The bodyguards had mistakenly thought that Ciel killed her and so fired shots at him. The one shot that hit Ciel was symbolic as his blood flowed to form the contract that was made between him and Sebastian.

It was at this moment when Sebastian returned to Ciel's side, preventing the shots fired by the bodyguards from reaching Ciel. It would be interesting to see how the next episode will end and it shall be the last one for this season .

Hopefully the anime team and studio will come back soon with a new season for Kuroshitsuji as it is well-loved by many fans, provided they don't screw up the ending for the last episode.

Now the wait begins for the last episode starts here.

Kuroshitsuji DS Game on Sale

Wow, a Nintendo DS game has been released for Kuroshitsuji on 19 March 2009. It's titled Kuroshitsuji: Phantom & Ghost. Pictures of the game can be found below for reference, all credits not mine:

Game Cover

An online website posted a mini review on the game, which I posted below:

--

Kuroshitsuji: Phantom & Ghost will have an original story with some original characters. Sebastian, the butler, and Ciel, his master, are in the game. Players can switch between the two characters and view scenes from different perspectives which lead to different endings. Since Kuroshitsuji: Phantom & Ghost is being billed as a “Master and Butler’s adventure game” the core game sounds like a text adventure, but Square Enix has some mini-games inside Kuroshitsuji: Phantom & Ghost too.

Update: Finally, a touch screen dishwashing mini-game. It looks like Kuroshitsuji: Phantom & Ghost is going to give players menial tasks in the form of mini-games
.

--

A quick check online for the pricing put it at S$91.58, which would be way out of my budget if I were to buy it. Well, I don't own a Nintendo DS Lite so it would be pointless for me to buy the game. However I am very tempted to own this game as it's based on one of my favourite manga and anime of the moment, Kuroshitsuji.

Oh man, what should I do? To buy or not to buy. It's getting on my nerves, seeing that only Japanese people will get to play this game for now. Grrr....

Anime Watch: Night Wizard

A few days ago, I had started watching an older anime series titled Night Wizard. It's an anime about a young high school girl, Shiho Elis, searching for the seven jewels to complete her Ain Soph Aur, which is actually a bracelet on her right hand, in order to protect the human world from impending darkness. Special beings, known as Night wizards, possess supernatural magic in which they use to fight against emulators from the dark world.

She makes friends with Akabane Kureha, Hiiragi Renji and Himuro Akari at school. Together they fight the emulators that they come across while searching for the jewels. I enjoy watching this anime as it has many comical moments, thanks to Renji being the sacrificial lamb, many fighting scenes and especially magic. I love all things magic and wizards are no exceptions, even if it's only a fantasy.

Below are some pictures of the anime that I found using Google:

Shiho Elis

Himuro Akari

From left to right: Akari, Akabane Kureha, Hiiragi Renji and Elis.

The game that the anime was based on.

The story plot is very engaging and doesn't drag for too long. The mission gets accomplished pretty easy though. However the accomplished mission brought forth a major disaster, for Elis is actually the reincarnation of the most powerful evil lord, Shaiymaral.

Shaiymaral is actually created by the observer of the Universe, Kirihito, who in actual fact is the Gazer, a being whose original duty was to watch over the world for all eternity. Being of the opinion that the world is in a dengerative state, he sought to destroy and rebuild the world. Renjio and the gang worked to fight back against Kirihito and eventually they did won.

This anime is so full of drama and entertainment that I never felt bored for a single moment. It's refreshing and very light-hearted. It does not take itself too seriously by not giving too many complicated backstory. In fact, I like Renji and his comic moments as he's very adorable. ^-^

Watch it if you manage to come across this anime. Definitely worth it.

Anime Watch: Subbed Kuroshitsuji Episode 22 Finally Out

Finally, the subbed version for Kuroshitsuji episode 22 is out and can be viewed here. At least I can have one positive thing happened for me today.

Now I understand why Sebastian left Ciel's side so suddenly. Apparently he is not happy that Ciel is changing emotionally. This is mainly because Ciel is deeply affected by Aberline's death. However, this version of Ciel only belongs in the anime. The manga version is much more stronger and evil than this. In fact, the mangaka had said so herself, that her Ciel would be more evil compared with this episode's Ciel.

So this is somewhat of a letdown from the anime team, since they had been doing quite well before. Deviation from the original manga is something that most animes experienced and looks like even Kuroshitsuji is also unable to escape from the same destiny.

Besides, the anime Sebastian had mentioned in an earlier episode that he would follow his master no matter where he goes. So the leaving of Ciel is also somewhat puzzling, though it's suggested that the cat which appeared towards the end appears to be Sebastian. Sebastian's motive is not that clear and so we can only assume that he probably left Ciel as he felt that Ciel is no longer the same as before.

Yet this sudden, new powerless Ciel is simply not my cup of tea, though I do pity him that he has to fend for himself since Sebastian is not around. Well, it's high time that Ciel learns to take care of himself. Surely he can do a simple thing such as grooming himself to a presentable state? In this aspect, at least it's more or less the same as the manga version. Both versions feature a Ciel that is unable to take care of himself properly and simple tasks like wearing his eye mask or clothes is like a challenge to him. Most of the times, he never get them right either. *snickers*

With this, we are left with 2 more episodes to go before the anime officially concludes. Oh boy, I shall be missing this anime when the time for its end comes. Thankfully the manga is still going strong and I am anticipating the latest release, which is tomorrow and hopefully a translation will come out soon.

I never thought that I could become such a huge fan of Kuroshitsuji. Cheers!

Nice and Cute Kuroshitsuji Website

I found this interesting website that is maintained by the studio that makes the Kuroshitsuji anime. Too bad I can't read the information on the site as it's all written in Japanese so I can only browse through pictures. As the saying goes, a picture says a thousand words.

Browsing through the site yields some nice and cute pictures which I posted below for sharing purposes:

Looks like a poster made by fans?

Rows and rows of the manga, I guess.

Promotion posters for the anime

Cute drawing made by Yana Toboso?

Too bad I can't understand the language and fully comprehend all the writings in this website. But that drawing of Sebastian together with his demon form simply exemplifies cuteness. Hopefully the anime will end on a graceful note as the manga is still currently ongoing so they can't finish the anime's ending based off the book.

I wish they would animate the circus arc. That would have made the anime much more interesting as the circus arc is very happening. Too bad the author has yet to finish the arc so it remains a mystery.

So for now I have to contend with a totally different story arc in the anime. Kuroshitsuji seems to be very popular in Japan and look at those rows of the manga. Really amazing, eh?

Hopefully these videos won't be removed so that fans can continue to watch and enjoy them. I'm off to watching my favourites animes now!

EDIT: To sum up this whole episode, mainly Taiga's friends has come to realize her love for Ryuji, all except Minori who still doesn't know about her friend's feelings. When she realized that Taiga had , unintentionally, revealed her true feelings to Ryuji during the ski trip, she was mad that Ryuji knew it and yet still tried to hide from the truth.

The next episode will see him make a choice on whether to continue pursue Minori or give up and go after Taiga. However the producers and writers might decided to twist the story so that it will give more headache to viewers.

There are only 2 more episodes left in the 25 parter series. So the next 2 episodes are crucial to determine whether this anime has been worth watching or not. Anticipation can be such an annoying thing, mind you.

Ok, wait and see. That's the only thing I can do for now.

Fuwa Sho's Prisoner in Skip Beat!

In the anime Skip Beat!, Kyoko's childhood love and now her enemy, Fuwa Sho, hired her in the making of the PV for one of his songs, Prisoner. In it, Kyoko played an angel who turned evil after killing her best friend's love, a devil acted by Sho.

Now a video can be found on Youtube containing the full song, which is sung by Fuwa Sho's seiyuu actor, Mamoru Miyano and I think the song is pretty awesome.

I was surprised to read that he also did the voicing for Setsuna F. Seiei in Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Light Yagami in Death Note and Zero Kiryuu in Vampire Knight and Vampire Knight Guilty. Gosh, this guy is sure amazing as I like all the characters that he voiced for. To think that he is of the same age as me but he has achieved so much in his life. I'm ashamed of myself.

Hmmm a seiyuu job is so attractive. Too bad I'm not a Japanese otherwise I would have chosen to be a seiyuu too. =D

Anime Watch: Toradora! ~ A Sweet Anime

Another cute little anime to watch is Toradora! This anime follows a young boy named Ryūji Takasu who has just started his second year of high school. He shares the same class as his best friend a.k.a. Yūsaku Kitamura, his crush a.k.a. Minori Kushieda, and the school's most dangerous animal of the highest risk level —Taiga Aisaka. Taiga also happens to be Minori's best friend.

After an unpleasant start, the 2 realised that they both have crush on each other's best friend and so they venture on their own plans to help each other in getting their love. Lots of hilarious situations ensued between all the students.

A recent episode on celebrating christmas revealed that Taiga has already fallen for Ryuji but she continues to help him out in getting Minori to be his girlfriend. In that episode, there was a collaberation between Taiga and her enemy, Ami Kawashima, although it was more of a petite girls' fight. See below for the video of their collaberation.

The title for the insert song is Holy Night and is sung by the seiyuu actors for Taiga and Ami. I feel that this is a very nice song and suits the mood for the episode very well. I was touched when I saw how Taiga desperately tried to chase after Ryuji but was too late.

Hopefully Ryuji will get his act together and acknowledge Taiga's love as the current episode has revealed that he knows about Taiga's love for him. He is still hankering after that Minori, who had already rejected him on christmas eve as she knew of her best friend's love for him.

There are 3 more episodes to go and so I shall be keeping a lookout on the story plot.

Anime Watch: Subbed Version of Skip Beat! Episode 21

Here is the latest update to Skip Beat!. Episode 21 can now be viewed here:

Watch sb21 | View More Free Videos Online at Veoh.com

Thanks so much to the user for uploading this subbed episode. It must have taken the person quite a lot of time to do the subbing and the uploading in order for people like me to be able to view the show.

In this episode, Kyoko is on her way to her first TV role in Dark Moon as Mio Hongo and she discovers that Ren would be acting alongside with her as well. We also see Director Ogata for the first time and the way Kyoko described Ogata as fragile is so hilarious.

From this episode onwards, we shall see a total evolution of Kyoko as an actress when she is put to a test by the veteren actress who played Mio 20 years ago.

I hope we can get to see how Ren struggled with his love scenes and how he used Kyoko to practice his love scene, in the process discovering about his love for her. That part is very detailed in the manga and so I hope I can see that in the next episode of the anime.

Stay tuned!
