Movie Watch: Drag Me To Hell

Last night, I went to watch Sam Raimi's latest movie with Queenie, Drag Me to Hell, at Plaza Singapura's Golden Village.



Since the film is directed by Spiderman's famed director, I can't give this movie a miss. For the most part, it was satisfying as sudden shocks and surprises jumped at the audiences in-between the storyline.

The sound effects are especially good and they succeeded in creating scares and tense atmosphere that made most of the girls in the cinema cringed in horror. But both Queenie and I were not affected as we are seasoned horror movie-goers, so there's pretty much nothing that can scare us.

Still this movie is very realistic and do borders on the ridiculous edge as well. I mean, just how much yucky liquid Sam Raimi is going make that actress swallow just to satisfy his sadistic tendencies?

The poor actress ate almost everything from maggots to flies to saliva to vomit to soil to blood. Just about everything that you can think yucky of, she's done them all in this movie. Poor Alison Lohman.

Overall the movie isn't that bad but the ending is kind of, duh. Our heroine thought she managed to escape from hell's clutches, only to be sent back right into hell by her unknowing boyfriend. And that was right after she went through the process of digging up the cursed old woman's grave and stuck the so-called accursed button right into the mouth.

What can I say, Christine? You are just fated to be in hell. Oh ho ho ho... Yeah~ that's just about it.

On a side note, while I was waiting for Queenie to arrive, I went to Sasa to get my eyebrows trimmed and the service was totally free. Oh boy that was quite a delightful find. However I did bought some items like mascara and facial masks from the shop so it's not as though I am a cheapskate person.

Right so that's just about it. =D

Shopping Time!

Today's a shopping day and after I completed my facial at Fil, I headed straight to Plaza Singapura for some pleasure shopping.

Well, I planned on buying some clothes to wear but my face was feeling too sore from the facial and that made me lost interest in buying clothes.

After some window-shopping, I finally bought some books from Times Bookshop. They are Khaled Hosseini's A Thousand Splendid Suns and Stephenie Meyer's Twilight.



I had been wanting to buy Hosseini's new book ever since it was released last year. The only thing that stopped me from buying was that it came in a hardcover edition. It's too big and heavy for my liking until I saw the soft cover version today. I grabbed the book without a second thought.

The same thing goes for Meyer's Twilight. I heard from maomao that it's a very good story and since I'm in a buying mood, I decided to get the book as well. It's a vampire/human love story and that alone is worth a read. I love vampires.

I will be starting on Hosseini's book first as it has been on my reading list for a long time now. His first book, The Kite Runner, was simply too good and I have high hopes for this second book.

Pretty Burberry Blue Label Bag Spotted

I was browsing through the newspapers when I caught sight of a extremely beautiful bag. The picture, which I took using my new Sony cyber-shot camera, is shown below for illustration purposes.




Such a gorgeous bag can't escape from my eyes. Too bad it's only available in Japan so there's no way to buy it in Singapore. No worries though. I can start saving up for the bag first as the bag can easily cost up to $400 or more.

It may sound like an extravagant buy but I heard from sources that burberry bags can last for a long time. So I think it's more of like a sensible long-term investment. In that way, I wouldn't have to keep buying new bags when my current bag fails on me.

I wonder how long I will have to wait before I can lay my hands on a burberry blue label bag. *sighs*

NDP 08 Preview Fireworks Video

All right, I finally got one of my fireworks files to upload onto my blog. Hope it works.

This video clip is just a short portion of the total fireworks display. My other bigger file is simply too big for any websites to upload, with its size tipping the scales at 278 MB.

Yep. It's a very big file due to its longer duration of 3 minutes and 50 seconds. That is truly awesome with lots of fireworks exploding in the night air, with the financial business district in the background to complete the picture.

Hope this small video is able to share some of the nationalistic atmosphere to the reader.

My National Day 2008 Preview

Finally the day has arrived!

The day where I will be catching the National Day Parade live for the 1st time in my life as an audience. My effort in balloting for the NDP 08 Preview tickets for the 1st time yielded good results.

And so, I went to the preview with my friend, Mayi aka Angeline Chew yesterday. We met up early in order to go the venue early so that we can get the best seats possible. From our viewpoint, we figured that we got quite a good seating area as we could see the stage in whole and we were able to get good shots of the stage.

It was a long wait before we could get some relief from the hot weather. The sun shone non-stop during our wait and it was hard to get comfortable in a cramp seat for long period of time. Furthermore the girl sitting on my right kept poking her umbrella onto my shoulder which hurt a lot. I can tell you that it was truly a test of my patience when the girl just refused to be considerate when using her umbrella. I really felt like committing a murder there and then. Damn her....

I took loads of photos during the preview and posted them onto my Facebook Photo albums, which can be accessed by public. My photography skills are not quite up to scratch and my Casio Exilim EX-70 is not an excellent camera for long shots so some of the photos don't turn out quite nice. So sad sia...

When the Comex comes at the end of this month, I'm gonna invest in a good superzoom camera which is also able to take good shots in dim light conditions. That's for sure.

Yup. I also took videos of the fireworks which are the main highlights of the show. I'm still uploading the videos onto my web pages and it's taking forever to finish uploading, at the rate it's going.

Nonetheless, the fireworks was simply amazing. They took my breath away, literally. I was so awed by the beauty of the fireworks that I wish that I could set off my own fireworks. If only fireworks are legalised in Singapore, that would be a totally different story altogether. *sighs*

Anyways, once the preview had ended, both mayi and I went for dinner at Sushi Tei at Raffles City. I still prefer the outlet at Vivo City as the food and service are much better than this Raffles City outlet.

I didn't ate that much as mayi's mum was around and I wasn't exactly comfortable with her. Not totally, you know what I mean? Hmmm....

So, after the dinner, I went on to meet Veron and my other colleagues at Party World KTV at Shenton Way for a singing session, though I didn't sing that much. Having sung so many national day songs earlier on had sorta tired me out. Heehee...

Second Hair Job Done

Today I went back to Reds Salon at Suntec City to do a follow up treatment for my rebonded hair. The treatment is supposed to soothe and nourish my hair so that it will look its best and at the same time ensure that the hair cuticles are not damaged by the rebonding process.

So far I am very happy with my hair's new look. Not a single hair strand looks out of place on my head and this makes me feel very confident too. It is definitely worth the price to get such a nice head of hair. Hee...

Not to mention that while I was doing my hair, in pop Mayi. She came to the salon to do the same treatment as mine. What a small world indeed. Well, at least I had a companion by my side while I'm getting my hair done.

After my treatment was completed, I went to shop for some facial products while Mayi had to go home together with her mum.

In the end, I spent more than $80 on tea tree oil products from The Body Shop. I had heard that tea tree oil is good for fighting acne problems on skins. As my face is prone to acne, I decided to try out the products so as to fight the acne problem. I also bought a seaweed cleanser for makeup removal purpose.

With the many positive reviews that I read on tea tree oil online, hopefully my face will get better too. =)

Hair Job Done

Yo... I had just came back from a rebonding session at Reds Salon at Suntec City. I had heard about this fantastic offer of $180 for a rebonding job with no hair length limits. As my hair is very long, it will suit me well as I am looking at a possible cost savings up to $200. That's a lot of money!

Plus it was Mayi who introduced the offer to me and she also recommended me her stylist whom she said is very good at styling hairs. And so I had called up the salon and fixed an appointment with Karen.

Overall I am very happy with the results. My hair went from messy to straightness/sleekness in a snap. Now I look much more presentable with well-behaved hair. It is certainly worth the $180 that I spent for.

Now that I look different from before, I wonder how long will it take for my blur mum to notice my new crown glory. She has never bother to be more concerned about my life. *sighs*
